EYE CONDITIONS

Get to know first hand and in a simple way, what they are and their symptomatology,
to be able to identify it easily and take care of it in the shortest possible time.
ASTIGMATISM
It occurs when there is an unequal curvature of the cornea that makes the image not focused on the
retina in a single point but in several.
Distort the images, both far and near, generating what is known as a "ghost" vision of everything.
It is corrected through our laser surgery, personalized without pain, in a few minutes.
WATERFALLS
They occur when the lens (transparent lens inside the eye) becomes opaque.
It usually occurs because of age, although diabetes can accelerate its appearance. It manifests with progressive
blurring of vision (cloudy) and, if the person does not consult on time, can lead to blindness.
They are a normal part of aging. The greater the person, the greater the likelihood of appearance and progression
of cataracts. However, there are times when cataracts appear at younger ages, especially in people suffering
from certain diseases such as diabetes, intraocular inflammation and high myopia, among others.
Cataracts may also appear after eye trauma or in some predisposed families. Almost three out of four people
over 75 have cataracts, most people who have cataracts have them in both eyes. However, one of the eyes may
be worse than the other, because each of the cataracts develops with different rapidity.
This decrease in vision is usually more evident at night because the lights of the headlights of the cars that come in the opposite direction, when driving, produce flashes and glare to the person who is driving and in some types of cataracts the light of the sun during the day sharply reduce vision. In addition the hue of the colors is lost, taking things a reddish coloration.
The corrective option is the surgical extraction of the cataract, using a technique called phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implant, which may be this monofocal or multifocal lens.
FARSIGHTEDNESS
It occurs when the cornea is very flat, or when the eye is very short, which causes the rays of light to focus behind
the retina.
The hypermetrope has difficulty focusing closely, but clearly sees objects at a distance.
As time goes by this problem increases and nearby objects become more blurred.
Additionally, distant vision begins to be affected and the same thing begins to happen with distant objects.
It is correctable with laser surgery, personalized without pain, in a few minutes.
MYOPIA
It is a disease that occurs when the cornea is very curved or when the eye is very long.
In the case of the myopic eye, the light rays are focused in front of the retina and therefore the consequence
is that the objects located at a distance tend to be blurred, while those located near focus well.
It is correctable through laser surgery, without pain, in a few minutes.
PÁPPADOS
Over the years, the upper and lower eyelids lose elasticity and the fat normally found around the eyeball tends
to protrude under the skin and forms what is commonly known as "bags" around the eyes, which makes the the
bloated person, especially in the mornings and the one who suffers from this always looks tired.
Over time the size of the bags can advance and the visual field of these people can be affected, who can complain
that they have to open their eyes more to see better. Here, it is essential to perform a blepharoplasty that reduces
inflammation and improves the general appearance of the face.
There are certain medical conditions that should be ruled out when performing a blepharoplasty; These include
thyroid problems, such as hyperthyroidism and "serious" disease, problems of lack of moisture in the eye, known
as dry eye, high eye pressure, known as glaucoma and high blood pressure or other disorders. of circulation, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.
Blepharoplasty
It is the corrective option through surgical procedures.
PRESBYOPIA
When the eyes are young, their lens is very elastic.
This allows to focus well from near and far without difficulty. And once you reach the age of 40, the lens hardens
and people notice that to read a book, the press, a letter or your cell phone, they have to keep it away more
and more.
Many people end up wearing one or several pairs of glasses or bifocal lenses to compensate for the visibility
problem.
It affects most people, regardless of whether they suffer from myopia, hyperopia, cataracts.
It is correctable through our laser surgery, without pain, in a few minutes.
KERATOCONO
It is a congenital pathology where the normal shape of the cornea is affected. Gradually develops a conical
deformation that modifies and progressively alters the vision and makes it increasingly blurred both far and
near as it develops progressive astigmatism and myopia.
This process depends on the age of the patient and onset of symptoms. Usually, the younger the patient is and
the earlier the keratoconus starts, the faster the advance.
In most cases it occurs in both eyes and is usually greater in one eye than in the other. It can evolve in a slight
way (USE OF EYELASHES), moderate (USE OF CONTACT LENSES) or severe, in which vision does not improve and requires surgery (INTRACORNIAL RINGS OR TRANSPLANTATION OF CORNEA).
Causes
- It is a congenital disease in large proportion.
- It is a consequence of other diseases such as tissue collagen, allergies in your youth or childhood, so do not allow children to rub their eyes permanently.
Symptom
- Blurred vision and distortion of images.
- Vision slightly affected in its beginnings.
- Glare, known as sensitivity to light and irritation.
Evolution
The disease progresses slowly for 10 or 20 years, beginning in adolescence and can progress to different degrees with mild vision defects, which can be corrected with glasses, moderate ones in which contact lenses may be needed, or severe in which vision does not improve with glasses or contact lenses and then surgery is required.
Both eyes may be affected although the evolutionary degree may be different. The cornea is thinning and deforming causing an increasingly higher astigmatism, which can not be treated by glasses.

Slight cases are treated successfully with:
- Glasses
- Special contact lenses
- Surgery
For this there are different types of surgery:
Thermokeratoplasty to reduce astigmatism
Implantation of intracorneal rings that in the great majority
Application of some CK points
Lamellar corneal transplant: only the superficial part of the cornea is transplanted
Penetrating corneal transplant: the entire cornea is transplanted.
Cross-linking: Radiation of ultraviolet rays type A on the cornea associated with the application of Riboflavin in topical form, during 30 minutes and its objective is to make the cornea more rigid, hardening it. Especially indicated for young people with progressive keratoconus, which is evolving, as it stops its development.
